Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events this season due to the illness that has affected her in recent days.

The 22-year-old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will include her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the deciding set versus Zhu due to a lower back issue that has been a concern during parts of the season.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches this year and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
