Thousands Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events swept through the state, bringing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Broad Damage
Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that various areas across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

- Wyndham region - over 175 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This alert comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
